WASHLET+ compatible means the power cord and water hose tuck into a channel under where the seat meets the bowl, so they stay hidden. On non-WASHLET+ seats (KC2, KS5, KS6) the cord and hose run off the side of the seat and are more visible.   1 Automatic flush is an optional upgrade on WASHLET+ toilets.

Top 10 Questions About the TOTO WASHLET Models S7A, S7, S5, and S2

1. What are the main differences between the S7A, S7, S5, and S2?

This is the most common question. The primary differences involve controls, automatic functions, aesthetics, and cleaning capabilities.

      • S7A: The top-tier model, featuring a slim design, an auto open/close lid and seat, a premium wireless remote with metal buttons, and both wand and bowl cleaning with EWATER+.
      • S7: Almost identical to the S7A but without the auto open/close lid and seat. It shares the slim design, premium remote, and dual EWATER+ cleaning.
      • S5: A mid-range model that uses a wireless remote but lacks the auto open/close feature found on the S7A. Its EWATER+ cleaning is for the wand only, not the bowl.
      • S2: The most economical of the S-series, it is controlled by a fixed side panel instead of a wireless remote. It has EWATER+ wand cleaning but lacks user presets and automatic lid functions.

2. Is the S7A worth the extra cost for the auto open/close lid?

For many, the S7A's hands-free convenience is a compelling feature, especially for households with children, older adults, or those with mobility issues. However, if the auto open/close feature isn't a priority, the S7 offers nearly all the same high-end features at a lower price.

3. How do the remotes differ between the models?

The S7 and S7A come with TOTO's latest, most premium wireless remote, featuring sleek design and metal buttons. The S5 also has a wireless remote, but it has a less premium feel. The S2 is the only model in this series that uses a fixed, side-mounted control panel instead of a remote.

4. Which models are WASHLET+ compatible?

All four models (S7A, S7, S5, and S2) are WASHLET+ compatible. Paired with a TOTO T40 toilet, the water line and power cord tuck into a channel under the seat and disappear from view. They also fit most standard toilets — just match the bowl shape when you order — where the cord and hose run along the side of the seat instead. Not sure what you have? See our Bidet Toilet Seat Compatibility Guide.

5. Do all models have instant warm water?

Yes, all S-series WASHLETs are equipped with an instantaneous water heating system, which provides continuous, on-demand warm water. This is a key advantage over older models that relied on a tank system, which could run out of warm water during extended use.

6. How do the Ewater+ cleaning features vary?

The premium S7 and S7A models feature EWATER+ for both the self-cleaning wand and for misting and cleaning the toilet bowl before each use. The S5 and S2 models use EWATER+ for wand cleaning only.

7. What is the difference between the "Contemporary" and "Classic" lid styles?

The Contemporary lid has a smooth, more rounded design that appeals to modern aesthetics, while the Classic lid has a beveled edge to blend better with more traditional toilet styles. Both lid options are available for the S7 and S7A.

8. Is the S7 seat more comfortable than the S5?

Yes, the S7 features a different seat design with a slope that pushes the user forward, creating more "sittable" space than on the S5. This can be more comfortable, especially for taller individuals. Both models use a pressure-based seat sensor.

9. Which models include a nightlight?

The S5, S7, and S7A all include a built-in nightlight. The more economical S2 does not have this feature. On the S7/S7A, the nightlight illuminates both the bowl and the side controls.

10. Can the S5 or S2 be upgraded to have auto-flush?

No, the auto-flush feature is only available on compatible S7 and S7A models, and it requires purchasing an optional auto-flush kit. The feature is not available for the S5 or S2 models.

Top 10 Questions About the TOTO's WASHLET+ System

The S7A, S7, S5 and S2 Washlet Bidet Seats were designed to fit TOTO Washlet+ toilets so as to give a seamless intergrated and polished look. The top 10 questions people ask about the TOTO WASHLET+ system generally relate to understanding its unique features, compatibility, installation process, and troubleshooting.

1. What is the difference between a standard WASHLET and a WASHLET+?

A standard WASHLET is a bidet toilet seat that can be installed on most existing toilets. In contrast, a WASHLET+ is a bidet seat designed to pair with a specific TOTO T40 toilet. This pairing conceals the water and electrical cords and hoses for a cleaner, more integrated look.

2. Can I install a WASHLET+ seat on any toilet?

No. While a WASHLET+ seat can function on a non-compatible toilet, you will not get the sleek, concealed installation. The cords and hoses will be visible, just like with a standard WASHLET.

3. What are the key features of the WASHLET+ system?

Beyond the standard bidet functions like front and rear warm water cleansing, key features include:

      • Instantaneous water heating: Provides continuous warm water.
      • EWATER+: Uses electrolyzed water to clean the wand and mist the toilet bowl.
      • PREMIST: Automatically sprays the toilet bowl with a fine mist of water before each use to prevent waste from sticking.
      • Warm air dryer: Offers adjustable temperature settings to reduce the need for toilet paper.
      • Air deodorizer: Neutralizes bathroom odors.
      • Optional auto-flush: Automatically flushes the toilet when a user departs (available on certain models with an additional kit).

4. How difficult is the installation process?

If you purchase a full WASHLET+ system (toilet and bidet seat), installation is more involved than simply replacing a standard toilet seat. However, TOTO and various retailers provide detailed instructions and videos. Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge are needed for a successful DIY installation.

5. How do I use the remote control?

Most models come with a wall-mountable remote that controls the various cleansing functions. Key buttons include:

      • Stop: Halts all current functions.
      • Rear and Front Wash: Activates the cleansing sprays, often with "soft" options.
      • Dryer: Turns on the warm air dryer.
      • User Presets: Allows you to save customized settings for water pressure, temperature, and nozzle position.

6. What do I do if the water spray isn't working?

If the nozzle extends but no water sprays, first check that the water supply valve is fully open and the inlet hose isn't kinked. If that's not the issue, try unplugging and replugging the unit to reset it. You should also inspect the nozzle and internal filter screen for mineral buildup or clogs.

7. How do I clean the WASHLET+ and toilet?

For the bidet seat, use a non-abrasive toilet cleaner. The unit's EWATER+ function automatically cleans the wand. For the CEFIONTECT-glazed toilet bowl, avoid harsh, gritty cleaners or wire brushes. Mild, acidic cleaners like vinegar can be used to remove hard water stains.

8. What does "EWATER+" do?

EWATER+ is TOTO's self-cleaning technology that uses electrolyzed water, which has a sanitizing effect. It mists the bowl and cleans the wand both before and after each use, reducing the need for chemical cleaners.

9. What if there is an odor coming from the unit?

Your WASHLET+ has a built-in air deodorizer with an air filter that neutralizes odors. If you notice an odor, you may need to clean the filter. TOTO provides instructions for removing and cleaning the filter.

10. Can I still use toilet paper with my WASHLET+?

Yes, you can. While the warm air dryer and cleansing functions are designed to reduce your dependence on toilet paper, you can use a small amount for drying or personal preference.
